Reviews and Awards

From Naval History prizes to outstanding recognition in Advanced Educational Research to the Koret Jewish Book Award, our books have been judged notable in many ways. In any given season it is not uncommon for a third of our titles to win an award for achievement and scholarly excellence.

Our history list seems particularly feted: we have won the AHA-CLAH Bolton prize 18 times in the past 30 years, 10 time (almost one each year) since 2000; we have also been awarded both the Bancroft Prize and the Caroline Bancroft History award (twice), along with multiple repeat awards in Chinese, Japanese, and Latin American history. But the range of awards spreads across all our lists, even those peripheral to our core disciplines.

Our books are routinely reviewed in the major press, including featured reviews in the New York Times and the Washington Post – just last month Marigold by James Hershberg was named one of the “Ten Books We’ve loved this Year”.
