This chapter focuses on the Gazeta de Literatura de México, one of the first and most valuable literary-scientific periodical publications in the Spanish Americas. The chapter demonstrates the way in which José Antonio Alzate y Ramírez played an active part in the International Republic of Letters and setting the Gazeta de Literatura in the context of the developments in the Spanish American periodical press.
