War and Health: A Conceptual and Theoretical Framework
This chapter, which presents the conceptual and theoretical framework for studying the relationship between war and public health in this volume, provides an overview of the literature on the consequences of conflict and highlights the need for more comprehensive analyses of the effect of violent conflict on population well-being. It also outlines the key determinants of societies' health achievement, and identifies some of the impacts of violent international and internal conflicts on general and health care infrastructure, economic resources, and forced migration.
