This chapter, which presents some final thoughts from the author, underscores the need to remove the wall separating Holocaust studies and the study of Jewish history. It warns that if historians of the Jews fail to make their voice heard, if they refuse to consider how the Holocaust might alter reigning scholarly and popular understandings of their subject, then all the impressive accomplishments of the Jewish historiographical enterprise will be consigned to a distant corner of academic and Jewish communal consciousness.
