Inside Man

This chapter analyzes the factors considered in the modeling of human ways-of-being. It considers models of the behavior of a human individual as the outcome of a choice or a set of choices, and examines the ways modelers justify their representational choices to their models. The chapter also shows how models of behavior as choice can be productively modified and augmented to deal with concerns raised by experimentalists, and discusses rational choice theory and interpersonal distoscopy.
