The Rhetoric of Reality

(p.189) Chapter Nine The Rhetoric of Reality
The Roots, Rituals, and Rhetorics of Change
Stanford University Press

This chapter addresses the question of connecting managerial education to some version of reality in the process of business school reform in North America. It explains that the debate on this issue centered on the role of business cases in business school instruction and that there also was discussion on the prospects for simulating business reality through computer-based business games. This chapter also mentions that despite the potential of management games based on simulation, it became a serious threat to the status of other forms of virtual realities in business schools, particularly business cases.
